Building Our Future Together
Walls Construction Limited is one of Ireland’s leading, privately owned construction companies. We have office locations in Dublin and Cork and operate across a diverse range of sectors nationally, including; commercial offices, data centres, education, healthcare, industrial, high-density residential schemes, leisure and sport, life sciences, food and beverage and pharma.
Our ESG journey formally commenced in 2022, and since then, we have been working towards bringing the business in line with Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) requirements and connecting our strategy to the measurable Impacts, Risks and Opportunities (IROs) that emerged from our Double Materiality Assessment (DMA). We base our reporting structure on EFRAGS’ CSRD framework, Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for SMEs (VSME) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). These frameworks help us standardise topics and develop reporting disclosures for greater transparency and better decision making.
Our ESG strategy and policies are communicated to all employees and made available on the website. We have a dedicated ESG team and an ESG Committee (see Business Conduct section) which drives the strategy and several ‘sub’ workgroups focusing on topics such as Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (EDI&B), Energy & Carbon saving initiatives, Pollution, Waste Management, Biodiversity, Wellbeing, Sustainable Procurement and Charity work.
Learning and Development
Walls Construction Limited is committed to continuous improvement, which is why we have a dedicated Learning and Development Department focused on identifying skills gaps, supporting employee growth, and ensuring our people have the tools they need to succeed.
Our Learning and Development Department is committed to supporting the growth and development of all employees. We also have a dedicated L&D Committee that meets monthly to ensure the organisation’s training and development needs are fully addressed. The committee brings together representatives from across the business, making it a truly multidisciplinary forum. Each year, we carry out a comprehensive Learning Needs Analysis to capture current and emerging skills requirements and to inform our development plan for the year ahead. We also promote a strong learning culture, where challenges and setbacks are viewed as valuable opportunities for growth. As part of this commitment, we run Lessons Learned sessions multiple times a year to reflect on what worked well and what could be improved. All materials are then made accessible to employees to support continuous learning across the organisation.

Sustainability and Supply Chain
Our Supply Chain is a critical stakeholder group, and they play a crucial role in working towards a net positive environmental impact and the promotion of sustainable construction. We continue to develop our partnerships with both suppliers and subcontractors those in our supply chain who align with our ethical standards in terms of governance, human rights, health and safety, data protection, and environmental care. Achieving certification readiness to the ISO 20400 standard for Sustainable Procurement is an important part of this strategy. In line with our plans to comply with ISO 20400, we currently expect our suppliers to;
- Comply with current legal and regulatory requirements.
- Have responsible labour and human rights practices.
- Be environmentally aware and work with us to achieve our goals
- Implement transparency and anti-corruption practices.
- Extend our ESG expectations to their supply chain.
- Monitor and report on their compliance.
- Address non-conformities adequately and initiate continuous improvement.
Why we have become a Partner of the School
We aim to spread awareness on topics relating to Sustainability with our employees and Supply Chain. As well as to provide them with the necessary knowledge to make a change within their departments and organisations and provide the necessary knowledge to our employees and Supply Chain. As our industry has specific requirements in order to operate effectively such as Health and Safety controls, we believe this can and should be the case for Sustainability. With the ability to create bespoke training resources as a partner, for both within and outside the organisation this will allow us to meet the needs of a highly dynamic and regulated industry.
