We Are Member Led

The Construction Industry Federation (CIF) is the representative body for the Irish construction sector, offering a comprehensive range of services to assist construction companies of all sizes in navigating the complexities of the political, business, economic, and regulatory landscape.

The Construction Industry Federation operates as a member-led organisation with a 34-member Executive Committee appointed by our branches and associations. This committee guides our team of experts and support staff in pursuing the objectives of the construction sector.

Under their leadership, we work diligently to elevate standards in construction competence, health and safety, product quality, innovation, and cost efficiency, all while advocating for smart, targeted, and effective regulations.

The federation provides policy and professional member services across seven divisions: Main Contracting, Specialist Contracting, Housing, Planning and Development, Industrial Relations and Employment Services, Safety and Health, Education, Skills and Training and Environmental, Social and Governance.

Why we have become Partner of the School

Prioritising sustainability is not only responsible but also increasingly necessary for the success of construction industry.  The EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) emphasises transparency throughout the value chain and will prompt firms to foster practices that help create long term value.

As the representative body for the industry in Ireland – one of the country’s largest – we are compelled to provide our members with access to the latest thinking and best practices in sustainable construction.  The School provides an invaluable resource free of charge to assist firms in building up their competencies in sustainability and those in their value chain.

Sustainability is no longer a niche subject and demands collaboration with the School serving as the backbone enabling this meaningful collaboration.

“The CIF takes pride in being a Founding Partner of the Supply Chain Sustainability School. In light of the pressing climate emergency, the School will expedite the transfer of knowledge and collaboration across the value chain, accelerating the actions now required by regulators and civil society at large. The tools and resources crafted by the School offer transparent, practical, and step-by-step measures that businesses can progressively adopt to integrate sustainability into their practices and culture, fostering enduring change and value.”
