Our Purpose

We rise to the challenge of delivering transformative water services that enable communities to thrive.

Our Vision

A sustainable Ireland where water is respected and protected, for the planet and all the lives it supports.

Because we’re part of the villages, towns and cities we serve, we treat every drop of water like it’s our own. We are proud to take on the responsibility of protecting the water that has nourished generations before arriving at our taps, passing on a safe and secure water system to a rapidly growing population and empowering new cycles of investment in Ireland’s future.

Safeguarding our water

Water is one of our most valuable resources and essential for sustaining life. It has shaped our landscape, dictated the location of our cities, protected our health and fuelled our economic development in Ireland. For a long time, Ireland’s water network has served us reasonably well, but it now faces serious challenges. By improving water conservation and working together, we can ensure sustainable water services for Ireland into the future.

Our Challenges

Uisce Éireann is responsible for the delivery of water services to approximately 80% of the population. Whilst many customers receive a good quality water supply and wastewater provision, a significant proportion are dissatisfied with these services. Despite the good work of local authorities over many decades, under investment combined with a lack of planned asset management and maintenance programmes has led to a legacy of deficiencies in our treatment plants and networks.

Sustainability and Supply Chain

At Uisce Éireann we are committed to embedding sustainability across our supply chain by collaborating with our internal and external supply partners to deliver sustainable and innovative  water service solutions. Our supply chain plays a pivotal role in the delivery of the Uisce Éireann’s overall Sustainability Framework.

Our mission is to source the most cost-effective and sustainable solutions for all Uisce Éireann sourcing activities. We can then maximise the benefits for the company by developing competitive sourcing processes and building relationships with our key suppliers.

Uisce Éireann’s purpose is rise to the challenge of delivering  transformative water services that enable communities to thrive, and sustainability goes right to the heart of this vision for a sustainable Ireland where water is truly respected and protected.

With increasing pressure to meet the current demand for water as a result of population growth, climate change, and changing environmental regulations, Uisce Éireann is developing plans to ensure it can provide a safe, sustainable, secure, and reliable water supply to customers now and into the future while safeguarding the environment.
