Transport Infrastructure Ireland

Website

Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) develops, operates, and maintains Ireland’s national road, light rail, metro, and active travel networks. Our purpose is to provide sustainable transport infrastructure and services that enhance the quality of life, support economic growth, and respect the environment for future generations.

Across everything we do, we prioritise sustainability in our decision-making, playing our part in addressing the challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss. TII is committed to creating a future where transport infrastructure and the environment thrive together.

Climate change has profound implications for all of us. Through our Sustainability Implementation Plan, we have established a clear framework to embed environmental responsibility across all aspects of our work. This enables us to deliver transport infrastructure and services that are safe, resilient, and environmentally responsible.

By prioritising sustainability in the delivery, maintenance, and operation of our transport networks, we aim to improve quality of life, enhance well-being, and strengthen our ability to adapt to a changing climate.

TII’s vision for the future is built around three core aims: to maintain safe and resilient transport networks; to lead in sustainable infrastructure delivery; and to foster a culture that values people, partnerships and the environment. These principles guide how we manage our supply chain, focusing on long-term value, environmental impact, and collaboration.

We are putting this vision into action by working closely with our supply chain and partners to raise standards, drive innovation, and embed sustainable practices at every stage of project delivery. Central to this is our commitment to leadership, providing guidance and support to our employees and supply chain partners
so that sustainability is prioritised in decision-making and daily operations.

This includes advancing innovation across Ireland’s active travel, metro, light rail, and road networks. We aim to reduce and reuse natural resources, protect ecological habitats, and apply green procurement principles in all our operations.

At the same time, we are adapting our infrastructure to meet the challenges of a changing climate. Our goal is to keep national networks resilient, forward-looking, and aligned with Ireland’s long-term environmental goals.

Sustainability and Supply Chain

TII is committed to advancing sustainable, people-focused mobility across Ireland’s transport system.

By working closely with our suppliers and partners, we aim to embed environmental and social responsibility at every stage of infrastructure delivery. This includes setting clear expectations, encouraging innovation, and promoting responsible practices that align with national climate goals.

We collaborate with the supply chain to support the implementation of Circular Economy principles. Our ambition is to reduce waste, optimise resource use, and consider the whole-of-life value from the outset of transport infrastructure projects. By integrating these principles and actions, we aim to create a sustainable and resilient transport network that benefits everyone.

TII’s values—sustainability, collaboration, innovation, integrity, and public service— guide how we work with suppliers. Contracts are managed with care and accountability, and partnerships are built on trust and shared goals. Through this approach, our supply chain contributes not only to the efficient delivery of infrastructure, but also to a more sustainable and connected Ireland.

Why we have become a Partner of the School

TII has partnered with the Supply Chain Sustainability School to collaboratively address challenges and make meaningful change across the built environment.

We believe that this partnership will strengthen sustainability across our supply chain by providing our stakeholders and employees with access to high-quality tools, training, and resources. It will support suppliers in building capability, contribute to shared climate and environmental goals, and reinforce TII’s commitment to best practice and continuous improvement in transport infrastructure delivery.
